Today is 11.11.11, and the 93rd anniversary of the end of World War I. I can’t help but be reminded of this scene from Downton Abbey, and of the characters who served in the Great War: Matthew, Thomas, Mr. Lang, Major Bryant, Mrs. Patmore’s nephew, and of course, dear William. Let’s all take a moment today to be thankful for the millions of real-life soldiers those characters represent - men who fought for freedom and gave their lives for it.
"I think, while the clock strikes, we should all make a silent prayer to mark the finish of this terrible war and what that means for each and every one of us. Let us remember the sacrifices that have been made, and the men who will never come back, and give them our thanks…Remember, this is not just the end of a long war, but it is the dawn of a new age. God bless you all. " -Lord Grantham
