Stonegate, city of York, Yorkshire, England. Stonegate is one of the oldest streets in York, an ancient passage crammed with interest. No. 35 is greater than 700 years old and reputedly the most haunted house in York. The famous Olde Starre Inn pub is on this street, and Barley Hall- a living replica of a 500-year-old Great Hall- can be accessed via one of York’s many snickelways (extremely narrow passages) A snickelway between numbers 50 and 52 leads to the remains of a twelfth century Norman house, the oldest surviving residency in York.
